Here are some directions for using the features of Family Directory.

Before you sign-up:

Get the Family ID and the Password, from a leader in your extended family.

Get a photo of your face ready: .png or .jpg.. Crop the headshot square, with about 1/8” space larger than your head.

Entering your name:

Just enter your first name, or your middle name, or the nickname that you go by. But just one name for your first name. The purpose of the family directory is for people to find you by the name they would most recognize. Then enter your last name. Two names only in the First & Last Name field. No maiden names.

What if your name is the same as another relative?

As an exception, one of you will have to use a middle initial. That will make it slightly harder for people to find you by typing in your name. But you will both show up in the lists to be clicked on.

What if you don’t have your own unique email?

For kids or spouses or others without their own UNIQUE email, you will have to use a fake email. The email field is required and can’t be a shared one. Instead use your (first & last name & any 2 digit number (no spaces))@fake.com.

What if you don’t have all the information?

The required fields are email address, and First & Last Name. But if you don’t put in your parents first & last names, none of the relationships will work. Minimally also put in a phone number and your birth date.

Can you enter a family member?

YES. Once you have signed in, you can enter other family members. Get a headshot photo of each of them. And get their correct information: email address, address, phone number, birthdate, marriage date, parents names, spouse first and last name.

Can you change your photo & edit or enter other info later?

YES. Whenever you log-in, you will be able to update and edit any of your information at any time. So don’t wait for the perfect photo.

If someone else entered me, can I change my info?

Yes. You will log-in as someone who already has an account. Use your First & Last Name, the family group ID and the password. If they got your name right, you will be able to log in and change data.

How to use the features:

Click on a Gold Button to take you to the main feature sections.
In sections you usually start typing a name and matches show up in a list. Keep typing to get the name you want. Then click on the name to see the information.

How to execute actions:

Click on labeled maroon buttons to do things like send an email or a text or call a relative. The app will fill in the contact information for you.

How to navigate to different screens:

Clicking on Blue Buttons let you move between screens, and get back to where you were.

Group Features:

Go to Group Instructions for directions on how to set up sub-groups of relatives to bulk email or create address labels for them.
